Mission Statement

Peppermint Stick is a family orientated pre-school. We serve children ages 2 through 5 in our pre-school program and children 6 through 11 in our before and after school program. We strive to provide a positive family atmosphere conducive to the healthy emotional, physical, and cognitive development of our children.

About Peppermint Stick Pre-School

Peppermint Stick began its operation in June of 1980 as a family orientated pre-school in the Albuquerque community. It is run by a husband and wife team with caring, loving, and responsible staff members.

Peppermint Stick complies with state standards and regulations including, but not limited to:

Peppermint Stick Pre-School is located at 501 Jefferson NE across from Zia Elementary.

Services may be provided for up to 51 children over the age of 2.

A hot and nutritious lunch following the CACFP guidelines are served Monday through Thursday; children bring a sack lunch on Friday. We also serve morning and afternoon snacks daily.

Peppermint Stick offers a Summer program for children 6 through 11 which includes field trips, sports at the park, reading periods, arts & crafts, and cooking projects.

Staff Credentials and Certifications

Because your child's safety is our priority, each member of staff is screened to ensure that he or she will be cared for by fully trained, caring, loving, nurturing, and responsible individuals.

All teachers and substitutes must be a minimum 18 years of age and must pass a criminal background check through both CYFD and the State of New Mexico. It is also mandatory that they take the 45 Hour Entry Level Course in childcare within 6 months from commencement of employment with us.

Each staff member will receive CPR and First Aid training, and are required to attend 24 hours of additional training annually.
